In the course of constructing idlers, an idler is provided with a thermoplastic drum, the extended ends of which are overlapping the end-caps. Drums are placed between heated press-heads (6), the dimensions of which are adjustable to suit drum-sizes. While press heads are closing in under pressure drum-overlaps are folded down over the softened drum-ends and secured to the end-caps. The main feature of the device is a framework, that carries a pair of supports (2,3) mutually set in an axial direction. The supports carry electrically heated press-heads.
