1,197,928. Hand lamps. D. B. POLLOCK, VISCOUNT HANWORTH. 16 Jan., 1969 [17 Oct., 1967], No. 47155/67. Heading F4R. A hand lamp comprises a housing 1 containing a high-power lamp bulb 13, a reflector 7 and a switch 5 for connecting the bulb to a source of power, one or more passageways being provided through the lamp for the forced circulation of cooling air. The bulb may be of the quartz iodine type and the source of power may be external to the housing, e.g. a vehicle battery, or within the housing, e.g. a small rechargeable battery. The reflector 7 and a lens 2 are held by an annular member 8 having gaps (12, not shown) through which air can be drawn into the housing, the forced circulation being caused by a fan 22 driven by a motor 21 connected in parallel with the bulb. Holes 28 at the bottom of the housing allow the air to escape. In a modification the forced circulation is caused by external means, e.g. the suction provided by an internal combustion engine. An additional lowpower bulb may be provided in the housing for use independently of the bulb 13. |
