The invention concerns water-free preparations and their use as brightening agent for sewing thread, containing (1) 70 to 98 wt. % of a polydialkylsiloxane, (2) 1 to 29 wt. % of a paraffin wax, (3) 0 to 6 wt. % of a fatty acid containing 8 to 22 carbon atoms, (4) 0 to 6 wt. % of a fatty acid ester containing 8 to 22 carbon atoms in the fatty acid radical and 3 to 22 carbon atoms in the fatty acid alcohol and (5) 1 to 5 wt. % of a mediator.
