PURPOSE: An apparatus for inspecting the exterior and a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display using the same are provided to automatically proceed a process in an in-line state, thereby preventing unnecessary waste of time and inconvenience of a work. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal original plate is mounted at an apparatus(100) for inspecting the exterior by a robot arm. At least three or more protruded parts(45) are arranged to minimize contact areas of the liquid crystal original plate with a stage(80) when the liquid crystal original plate is mounted by the robot arm. A rotary shaft(50) has a tilt function. A plurality of light sources(60) apply light to the inside of the stage. A first polarizing plate includes the size of the liquid crystal original plate, and is arranged on the light sources. A fixing unit fixes the liquid crystal original plate when the stage rotates.
