MASK ASSEMBLY FOR CATHODE RAY TUBE

PURPOSE: A mask assembly is provided to achieve improved vibration characteristics of cathode ray tube by applying a higher tensile force to the tension mask. CONSTITUTION: A mask assembly comprises a tension mask(24) serving as a color discriminator electrode allowing for a passage of electron beam; and a mask frame(26) disposed to be opposed to the longer side of the tension mask so as to support the tension mask, and which includes a pair of support members(28) welded to the tension mask and a pair of stiffness members(30) integrally interconnecting the support members. The stiffness member is formed of a hollow beam including a pair of vertical portions(30a) formed vertically to the tension mask and a horizontal portion(30c) bent from a bending portion(30b) perpendicularly with respect to the vertical portion. The bending portion or the horizontal portion has a reinforcement portion for increasing the stiffness of the bending portion or the horizontal portion.
