The elastic paint tray (a), which may be made of silicon rubber, provides a simple way, by bending and kneading, of cleaning of dried on paint residue. A support tray (b) stabilizes the elastic paint tray during use, and after use is turned over to serve as a cover for the elastic paint tray. Several cut-outs are formed in the sidewalls of the elastic paint tray and can be closed off by plugs. The cut-outs match the cross section of the tool being used and support the still wet tool when the cover is fitted so that the tool does not dry out.
