<p>A vibration protections structure for fibre optic sensors and/or sources, and in particular fibre-laser hydrophones, from vibrations passing along a coupling optical fibre. The vibration protection structure comprises a cage like structure whose end members are secured to the optical fibre such that vibrations passing along the optical fibre are coupled into the vibration protection structure rather than the sensor. In preferred embodiments the cage like structure has a variable length such that the tension under which the fibre optic sensor is held can be altered.</p> |
