In a first aspect, this invention relates to a cutting tool of the type that comprises two parts, e.g., a basic body (1) and a cutting insert (2), which are interconnectable via connecting surfaces (3, 5) of serration type, which separately includes a set of cross-section-wise generally V-shaped ridges (6, 8), which are spaced apart by grooves (7, 9) defined by inclined flank surfaces on the ridges. According to the invention, at least one of the two flank surfaces (18) that mutually define a groove (7) is formed with two or more spaced-apart contact supporting surfaces, as well as clearance surfaces between the same. In additional aspects, the invention also relates to parts, e.g., basic bodies and cutting inserts, respectively, for cutting tools, as well as a method for the manufacture of cutting tools of the kind in question. <IMAGE> |
