发明名称 Production of alcohols by the partial oxidation of normal saturated hydrocarbons
摘要 1,183,511. Alcohols. HALCON INTERNATIONAL Inc. 20 March, 1967 [24 March, 1966], No. 12874/67. Heading C2C. Alcohols are prepared by oxidizing normal saturated hydrocarbons (10-30 C) or mixtures thereof with molecular oxygen in the presence of dehydrated orthoboric acid. The fraction containing unreacted hydrocarbon and ketone is distilled from the reaction mixture and recycled to the oxidation stage, and the reaction mixture residue is hydrolysed and alcohols recovered therefrom. The distillation leaves a residue containing boron esters of the alcohol products with a vapour pressure not greater than an equation ln.VP=A-B/T, where VP is in mm. Hg, T is temperature ‹K, A is 14À81-0À212 N, and B is 2060-336 N, where N represents the number of carbon atoms in the heaviest normal paraffin in the series comprising the bulk of the feed, which paraffin has a molar concentration in the feed of at least 5%. The preferred feedstock is a mixture of C 11 to C 14 normal paraffins which may contain 0À5 to 5% aromatic impurities and the maximum vapour pressure at 160‹C. of this ester containing distillation residue is 8À7 mm. of Hg. The dehydrated form of orthoboric acid, which preferably affords 0À5 to 1À0 mole of boron per mole of hydrocarbon, may be metaboric acid, tetraboric acid, boron oxide or a mixture thereof. The boron esters are hydrolysed to give the alcohols in known manner and the orthoboric acid liberated may be removed and dehydrated prior to return to the reaction.
