FIELD: measurement technology, measurement of linear displacements or deformations. SUBSTANCE: light spot is formed on photoconverter with four light-sensitive platforms and output signals from them are measured. Output signals are commutated, amplified, converted to digital code and processed in processor. Coordinates of center of light spot are computed by odd static conversion characteristics in the form of polynomial which degree is determined depending on residual sum of approximation squares in which values of coefficients and their number are found experimentally at calibration stage and metrological certification of device determining displacement. Device establishing displacement includes optical radiation source, diaphragm, displacement mechanism with photoconverter connected in series, commutator, amplifier, analog-to-digital converter, processor and interface. Outputs of photoconverter are connected to stabilizer of optical power which is connected to power supply source through adder. Number of inputs of commutator and adder corresponds to number of light-sensitive platforms of photoconverter. EFFECT: raised reliability and long-term stability of metrological characteristics, low cost of converter which is simple in realization. 2 cl, 3 dwg
