FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: The invention presents the catalytic agent of a synthesis of dimethyl ether and methanol from synthesis gas on the basis of a copper - zinc- chromium -aluminum system. It is distinguished by the fact, that the catalyst is prepared by mixing of a component A produced as a result of treatment of aluminum hydroxide in amount of 5-10 mass %. (in terms of aluminum oxide) from total mass a solution of a chromic anhydride, that is component B, representing ammoniacal, or ammoniacal - carbonaceous, or ammoniacal - formate, or the ammoniacal - acetate solution of copper and zinc, and a component C, in the capacity of which they use aluminum oxide or oxyhydroxide; a distillation of ammonia or ammonia and carbonic acid from a solution; drying of the obtained sediment; its calcination under the temperature of not higher than 380 . At that the operation of mixing of components A, B and C, carried out in such a manner that either they first mix components B and C and than add component A or they first mix components A and B and then after a drying stage or a calcination stage they add component C, and the operation of a distillation is carried out either after mixing of all three components, or after mixing of two components, one of which is component B.
