The folding box (1), for cakes and pastries, has a rectangular or square base (2) with four side walls (4,6,8,10) linked to the base by folding lines (12,14,16,18). Two facing walls (8,10) have folding lines (36,42) which bisect the adjacent angles at the base. Two stiffener strips (70) of the same length are at the facing side walls, to be fitted to them inside the box and held in place (64,72) at their ends. The base and/or the walls and/or the stiffeners are separate from each other of paper, strong cardboard, plastics or a semi-rigid metal.
