Essential genes from C. albicans and a method for screening antimycotic substances using said genes

A polynucleotide having the sequence as shown in SEQ ID NO:2 and functionally equivalent fragments and proteins encoded by the polynucleotide are described. The polynucleotide is used in methods as a target for screening for antimycotic substances. Also described are diagnostic compositions for fungal infections comprising the polynucleotide, the protein or an antibody directed against the protein.
