A chemical library comprising two or more different cyclic peptide mimetic compounds each independently having a structure represented by the following formula is disclosed: Formula (I) wherein at least one D comprises a peptide mimetic tail moiety to aid eukaryotic cell membrane penetration and hence bioavailability. Individual compounds from which the library is comprised are also disclosed. The chemical library is useful in screening of pharmaceutically active compounds, in particular antibacterial compounds.
