The invention relates to an electromagnetic shock wave or pressure wave source like that used, for example, in devices for carrying out extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, comprised of, among other things, a membrane made of an electrically conductive material that, inside a supporting structure, is in contact with an acoustic propagation medium on one side thereof, and rests with its other side via an insulator against an electric flat coil. The flat, one-piece and homogeneously constructed circular membrane is radially tensioned toward the exterior. According to the invention, the supporting structure is made from an electrically insulating synthetic material. |
