The stacking device has an intermediate stack carrier displaced to and from the stacking location in the printing machine delivery attachment (1), provided by driven carrier rollers (4,5) which are coupled together, displaced along guides. The initial carrier roller in the feed direction of the intermediate stack carrier to the stacking location has a smaller diameter than the remaining carrier rollers, the guides allowing it to travel into the stacking location at a higher level than the remaining carrier rollers, all of the latter lying at the same level in the stacking location.
