The turning drum for a sheet-fed printing press, to act on the sheets either for a first printing or first/counter printing, has a nipper grip system with at least one gripper lifter and a gripper finger (14) at the gripper shaft (11). The sheet is gripped by the trailing edge at the preceding printing drum, and turned over. The lifter is at a lifting beam (15), mounted with a coaxial swing to the gripper shaft. A lever (20) swings the lifter from a drive shaft (18) aligned with the gripper shaft. A pinion (17) is mounted to the drive shaft.
