The drive mechanism (2) comprises at least one motor with gear with drive-pinion (7) cooperating with a connecting toothed rack (8). The gear with drive pinion is fixed on the inside or flap (1) of the vehicle door. One end (9) of the toothed rack is swivel mounted on the bodywork (4) and spaced apart from the hinge-axle (3). The toothed rack is guided by a bearing (11) near the vehicle door or flap.
