The flat component for motor vehicle bodies has inner and outer metal sheets. The support of the outer sheet (1) is provided only on individual points distributed over the surface of the inner sheet. The metal sheets are interconnected at the aforesaid points while in the remaining area up to the outer edges of the edge regions the inner metal sheet is located with a gap of more than 5mm from the outer sheet. The two metal sheets are interconnected by means of adhesive.
