A propeller (1) rotating blades surrounded by a casing ring (3) comprises an electromagnetic drive with a stator in the region of the ring to produce an alternating electromagnetic field turning the propeller blades. Pref. the drive is a linear motor. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle, especially an air or water vehicle, comprising a propeller as above.
