A device for measuring the extracellular potential of a specimen of a cell, comprising a substrate provided with a first trap hole and having a bottomed well formed in the first surface, a first opening formed from the bottom face of the well toward the second surface, a first cavity part coupled with the first opening at a first connecting part, and a second opening coupled with the first cavity part at a second connecting part and reaching the second surface. The first connecting part has a diameter smaller than the maximum diameter of the first cavity part, larger than the diameter of the second connecting part and smaller than the diameter of the specimen of a cell. That device can hold the specimen of a cell surely and the specimen of a cell can be thrown in readily together with a chemical.
