A bow anchor mounting for a boat, e.g. a yacht, has a horizontal bracket (14) extending out over the bows and with two rollers at the free end. An upper fixed roller and a lower pendant mounted roller (11) ease the anchor shaft from a vertical into a horizontal position. A second fixed roller (16) is fitted at the inboard end of the bracket to guide the anchor chain and to support the head of the anchor shaft when the anchor is secured on the bracket.
