The sewing machine has a pair of cams to convert the rotational force of a pulse motor (80) into drive force corresponding to a thread cutter mechanism (10), and thread discharge and presser-bar-lifter mechanisms (50,30), respectively. A preset phase difference is provided between the cams so that the thread cutter mechanism, thread discharge mechanism and presser-bar-lifter mechanism are sequentially operated.
