PURPOSE: A water pump for sensing the temperature of coolant is provided to improve fuel efficiency and to reduce exhaust gas by mounting a coolant temperature sensor on an impeller mounting part of a pump shaft. CONSTITUTION: An impeller(20) is slidably mounted on an impeller mounting part(12) of a pump shaft(10). The impeller mounting part(12) has a hollow-type. A plurality of movable units and rubber pad are installed in the impeller mounting part(12). The movable unit moves along a moving groove. The rubber pad is protruded on the impeller mounting part(12) according to the movement of the movable unit. A coolant temperature sensor(30) is mounted on the end of the impeller mounting part(12), and makes a piston inserted into a case to move the movable unit if the temperature of the coolant is over a predetermined temperature.
