PURPOSE: A portable multi-play device and a controlling method thereof are provided to receive and store a file of a constant format such as a document file or a sound file from an external device, and to convert the stored file into an audio signal of the constant format. CONSTITUTION: An interface(100) is linked with the external device such as a serial port or an USB(Universal Serial Bus) port. A storing tool(300) stores various kinds of files inputted from the interface. An algorithm storing tool(500) stores a source program for converting into a text format according to the data format stored in the storing tool. A DSP(Digital Signal Processor)(200) converts the data into the text through the source program. A DAC(Digital/Analog Converter)(600) converts the data of the text format into the audio signal. An output tool(700) outputs the audio signal. A display tool(400) displays an operation state of the device.
