An automatic bookmark (1) is structured by a square base sheet (5); a pair of connection bodies (6a, 6b) provided on one side of the base sheet (5); a projection body (13) provided between the connection bodies (6a, 6b); elastic bodies (12a, 12b) that are connected to upper sides (29a, 29b) as the tips of the pair of the connection bodies (6a, 6b), in which bodies a fold line (15) parallel to the upper sides (29a, 29b)is provided; and a V-shaped bookmark body (27) connected to the tips of the elastic bodies and opposed to the base sheet (5). In use, the base sheet (5) is held between pages of a book and an appropriate amount of pages are held between the base sheet (5) and the bookmark body (27), so that a side of a bookmark body (27) on the edge side of the book is always a slant side (11a). When a page is turned over, the page is in contact with the page and the bookmark body (27) is smoothly swung up.
