PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically clamping and unclamping automatic clamp for back up roll is provided to easily separate and connect the clamp and substantially reduce danger of safety accident by installing a supplementary equipment for rotationally supporting the clamp when separating or connecting heavy clamp from or to chock. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a plate(92) installed in such a way that the plate is moved along rails(94); a pair of shafts(82) arranged on an upper surface of the plate(92); an operation table(74) installed in such a way that the operation table(74) is moved along the shafts(82) by back and forth moving cylinder(80); a fixed base(73) arranged in such a way that the fixed base(73) is vertically moved by lowerable and liftable cylinder(70) fixed to the operation table(74); a housing fixed to an upper surface of the fixed base(73); a central part ring bar fixed to a front surface of the housing; a cylinder(50) fixed to an inner circumference of the central part ring bar; and a link(52) comprising a plurality of clamp bars(54) connected to the cylinder(50), extended to a head part of the back up roll and elastically clamped to fixed pad of the head part.
