PURPOSE: An AMC(Adaptive Modulation Coding) device of a mobile communication terminal is provided to apply an STTD(Space-Time Transmit Diversity) method and an STD(Selection Transmit Diversity) method to the AMC device, thereby improving error performance and a forward link rate. CONSTITUTION: A turbo encoder(102) encodes transmission information bits(101). A channel interleaver(103) interleaves the bits(101). A symbol converter(104) performs a constellation mapping process for the bits(101). A Walsh modulation unit(106) performs a Walsh modulation process for symbol data. A scrambling unit(107) scrambles the data to output the data. A descrambling unit(108) descrambles the symbol data. A Walsh demodulation unit(109) performs a Walsh demodulation for the descrambled data. An STTD decoder(110) STTD-decodes the symbol data. A bit converter(113) converts the symbol data into information bits(116). A channel deinterleaver(114) deinterleaves the information bits(116). A map decoder(115) decodes the deinterleaved data to output the information bits(116). A channel information detector(111) detects channel state information. An MCS selector(112) optimally modulates and codes the information bits(116).
