A cleaning tablet which has a plurality of discrete regions with differing compositions, characterised in that at least one first region of the tablet is a smooth region and at least one second region of the tablet is a solid region and wherein the concentration of surfactants in said first region is at least 5 times the concentration of surfactants in said second region and wherein said tablet comprises non-soap anionic surfactants and nonionic surfactants in a weight ratio of from 10: 1 to 1: 10.
