An agitating device (3) disposed in a batch type container, comprising an upper cover plate (5), a bottom cover plate (6), an impeller (7), an inside screen member (8), and first and second outside screen members (9) and (10), wherein when mixed liquid passes through a liquid passing hole (19) in the inside screen member (8) and liquid passing holes (22, 25) in both outside screen members (9, 10) while flowing out from the impeller (7) through a space part between the plates, the majority of the component of the vector of the flow of the mixed liquid in circumferential direction is eliminated and generally only the component in radial direction remains, whereby swirl flow can be prevented from occurring, a sufficiently strong shearing force can be applied to the mixed liquid containing dispersoid and dispersion medium, and macro bubbles can be effectively prevented from occurring in the mixed liquid.
