A method and a drum for molding a tire capable of effectively eliminating residual air by increasing a press-fitting force between a carcass band and a bead filler when the carcass band is wound up around bead cores, the method comprising the steps of disposing a cylindrical green case on the outer peripheral side of a molding drum, bulgingly deforming the center portion of the green case in radial direction while mutually approaching and displacing both bead cores with the bead cores arrested by the molding drum to press-fit the green case onto the inner peripheral surface of a belt tread band, and when both end portions of the carcass band are wound up around the bead cores, pressing the carcass band together with the bead cores and bead filler against rigid support members disposed on the inner peripheral side of the carcass band.
