A patch (14), method of applying a patch (14), and an applicator device for application of the patch (14) to cover the opening of a hole (12) in a gable - top carton panel. The patch (14) is made from a frangible laminate material and is welded to the underside of the carton panel, corresponding to the sid e in contact with the beverage contained (15) therein. The welder is located outside the container (15) and the patch (14) is applied to the carton after bottom seal formation. |
