A composition of a polymer containing a functional substance encapsulated therein, the composition comprising a solvent and a block polymer having, encapsulated therein, at least a substance having a given function, wherein when the composition receives a stimulus, a property of the polymer alters to thereby aggregate particles of the block polymer having the functional substance encapsulated therein; or a composition which is usable as an ink for ink-jet recording and comprises a solvent and a block polymer having at least a colorant encapsulated therein, wherein when the composition receives a stimulus, a property of the polymer alters to thereby aggregate particles of the block polymer having the colorant encapsulated therein. The property alteration of the block polymer upon stimulus reception is a change from lyophilic to lyophobic properties or a change from lyophobic to lyophilic properties.
