The brake system for a trailer is pneumatically or hydraulically operated and is especially an overrun brake system with automatic pre-braking of the trailer before braking of the towing vehicle which is especially a private motor vehicle. The pre-braking is set in motion from the release of the accelerator pedal in the towing vehicle. The accelerator pedal is equipped with an electronic pressure sensor which will register whether accelerator pedal is operated or released.
