The primary contact [51] is connected in parallel with a safety contact [61] which in normal conditions is open. When an external voltage is applied by closing a supply switch [1.2] the contact in its cage moves to the right and is retained by a magnet [1.3] and in doing so extends an actuator pin [1.4]. This is then in a position that it can be displaced by a movable element [1.1], e.g a door.
