The handholds are for a maintenance flap (1) provided beneath the windscreen of a commercial motor vehicle whereby a spacing exists between the upper end of the flap and frame of the vehicle. Windscreen wipers are mounted on the frame of the vehicle and are installed inside the free space lying between the frame and maintenance flap. The maintenance flap is fastened on the frame of the vehicle via a retaining device in an upper region of it, and the handholds (2) are formed in the region of the retaining device in the upper edge of the maintenance flap by local deformation of the upper edge region and/or the formed parts fitting over the edge.
