An impregnated sealing element is produced by immersing an element made of foamed material in a liquid consisting of or comprising an impregnation material e.g. a bitumen solution, and then rotating the impregnated element to remove excess liquid. Rotation may be about a horizontal, vertical or inclined axis, which may itself be moving e.g. to establish a cycloidal movement. Excess liquid removed by the rotation may be recycled and used in the impregnation step. The composition of the liquid used in the impregnation step is maintained constant.</p> |
