[Also in Division A5] Novel compounds of formula where R<SP>1</SP> is H or alkyl, R<SP>4</SP> is alkyl, the total number of carbon atoms in R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> being 1 to 3, R<SP>2</SP> is Me or Et, R<SP>3</SP> is H or the acyi radical of a C 1-5 aliphatic carboxylic acid, and the broken lines signify that there is one double bond emanating from the C 6 -atom, are prepared by dehydrating a diol of formula and esterifying the resulting unsaturated alcohol if desired. Potassium bisulphate and orthophosphoric acid are specified dehydrating agents. The products are used in perfumery. |
