<p>Novel compounds of the Formula I wherein R1 and R2 each represent an alkyl or aryl group or R1 and R2 together represent an oxo, imino or thio group; R3 represents an alkyl group and R4 andR5 each represent a halogen atom or a trifluoromethyl, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, acyl, sulphamyl or alkylsulphamyl group and the broken lines denote that the substituents attached thereby are optional, and ketals and acid addition salts thereof, are prepared by reacting a compound of the Formula II with a cyanogen halide, a carbonic acid halide or ester, carbon disulphide or an appropriate aldehyde or ketone and if desired converting the product into an acetal and/or into an acid addition salt. <FORM:1068452/C2/1> <FORM:1068452/C2/2> Hydroxy amines of the Formula II where R3 is present may be prepared by treating the appropriate dibenzocycloheptenone with an agent yielding a hypohalous acid and reacting the resulting 10-hydroxy-11-halo compound with a suitable alkylamine, or, where R3 is present or absent, by reacting the appropriate 10,11 - epoxy - dibenzo - [a,d] - cyclohepten - 5-one with ammonia or an amine. Therapeutic compositions with antidepressant activity, in the forms of tablets, dragees, capsules, suppositories, salves, solutions, suspensions and emulsions for oral, topical or parenteral application comprise compounds of the Formula I, their ketals and acid addition salts, together with a compatible pharmaceutical carrier.</p> |
