Wax-free cosmetic gel product in the form of a transparent or translucent stick comprises 5-85 wt.% oil, hydrogenated hydrocarbon, alkene or mono-, di- or tri-ester, 0.1-15 wt.% 12-hydroxystearic acid, polyethylene (molecular weight 400-2500) or glyceryl behenate, 0.5-5 wt.% surfactant, and additives, carriers and/or active ingredients.
