The present invention provides, inter alia, novel nuclear receptor proteins. In a preferred embodiment of the invention novel CAR homologues are provided. Also provided are the nucleic acid sequences encoding these novel nuclear receptor proteins. The CAR homologues are useful for developing and identifying compounds for the treatment of such diseases and disorders as metabolic disorders, immunological indications, hormonal dysfunctions, neuro-systemic diseases and in preferred embodiments, high cholesterol and artheriosclerosis as well as other metabolic disorders.
