Method of video display using a decoder

The invention relates to a method for generating a video signal to be displayed applicable in a video decoder according to which, under a freeze-frame (freeze) command or a channel switching (channel hopping) command, the latest frame received is recorded in the frame plane of the decoder then this frame plane is activated for display and the video plane is deactivated.
