<p>The tray is thermoformed from a plastic material and has a recess in its base to receive an absorbent layer (2) of the same plastic material but expanded. The portion of the tray base that does not contain the absorbent layer has channels (11) that converge on the recess, and the sides of the tray have vertical ribs (19) that are aligned with the channels and extend downwards from a rim (16) that enables a number of trays to be stacked. The absorbent layer has perforations (20) in at least one of its surfaces, and it is held in place in the tray base recess by at least two lugs (17). The inner surface of the tray can be covered by a barrier layer, and it can be closed by a transparent barrier film made at least partly from an oxygen impermeable material.</p> |
