<p>A sports racquet or racket, e.g. a squash racquet, tennis racquet, or table tennis bat, includes an integral ball holder. The racquet may comprise a squash racquet having a V-shaped throat which connects the head 1 to the shaft 2, with the ball holder 3, 4, 5 being formed in the gap of the throat. The ball holder exerts sufficient pressure to hold a ball 6 in position when the racquet is not being used, but is unable to hold the ball in position when the racquet is hit by another ball, e.g. during a game. Instructions (9, 10, 11, fig. 2) may be provided on the racquet in order to remind a player to remove the ball from the holder before play commences, and the instructions may be provided in different colours on either side of the racquet such that, upon spinning the racquet in order to decide which player should serve first, the instructions serve as a means of visually distinguishing one side of the racquet from the other.</p> |
