The compressor has a housing (12) containing a bearing (22, 24, 26) and at least one lubricant channel (46) which supplies lubricant to the bearing. A lubricant separator (36) attached to the output line (34) for the refrigerant has a collecting chamber (40) for the lubricant separated out from the compressed refrigerant. The collecting chamber is connected to the lubricant channel by a supply line (42) and the lubricant is delivered from the separator to the lubricant channel solely as a result of the pressure difference between the compression pressure of the refrigerant and the internal pressure of the housing. The lubricant is then supplied under corresponding high pressure to all the bearings.
