Adjustable stop devices 29, 30, on banks of superheater or reheater tubes 26, 27, prevent damage of the tubes by collision with the tubes of the side wall 16 or baffle wall 18. The devices 29 comprise adjustable studs 38 carried by brackets 36 welded to the return bends 31a of the tube bank, the studs 38 co-operating with striker plates 32 secured to the baffle wall 18. After initial adjustment to secure a predetermined clearance 40, the studs 38 are tack welded at 56. The devices 30 comprise a bracket 42 carrying an adjustable stud 44 which projects through the tube wall 16 and a horizontal backstay 48 into a casing 54. The stud is adjusted to arrange predetermined clearances 50, 55 to limit the movement of the tube bank in both directions. |
