A pair of forceps comprising legs 10 + 11 pivoted together intermediate their ends has shields 16 attached on opposite sides adjacent the pivot, to cover openings formed between the legs as they are opened in use. The forceps may have a spring 15 between the legs 10 and 11 as shown. The shields are made of copper, stainless steel or plastics strips and are secured to the forceps by welding, brazing or soldering after which the joints are polished and ground. |
