An eyelet is provided in a sheet (not shown) of thermoplastic material or in a sheet of natural and/or synthetic fibre fabric coated with a thermoplastic material by moulding the eyelet in one piece of thermoplastic material so that it is formed with a circumferential flange 10 and an upstanding inner portion 11 surrounding the eyelet hole and by welding the flange 10 to the sheet by high-frequency welding. Preferably, both the thermoplastic material of the sheet and the material of the eyelet are polyvinyl chloride. Either the upper surface of the flange 10 or the bottom surface 12 of the eyelet is welded to the sheet. An annular reinforcing rim 13, e.g. of brass, Figs. 6 and 8, and a reinforcing ring 14, e.g. of steel, may be provided. The eyelet may be circular or elongate. |
