Grinder has rollers or belts (2,6,10) having a grinding surface in contact with a moving web, and rails (3,7,11) for moving the surface against the web direction and for adjusting the grinding force, the contact length and the web tension. The grinding surface is coated with triboelectrically charged particles having the same charge with the surface of the web. An Independent claim is also included for a process of grinding paper, cardboard or a similar continuous web of a fibrous raw material based on vegetable fibers, comprising conveying the web into a grinding apparatus with at least two grinding means, contacting the web with the grinding means so that the web tension can be adjusted as desired, adjusting the web tension so that a desired grinding force between the grinding means can be obtained, and thermally spraying triboelectrically charged particles on the grinding surface. The particles have the same charge with the surface to be ground.
