The ventilation hole cutting machine has one or more cutting tools (19) mounted on supporting frame (6) over a mobile unit (1) that can travel along the length of the tunnel (3). The tools are designed to move between inactive and cutting positions, are fitted with a system that keeps them at a given distance from the tunnel surface when in the inactive position, and have power cylinders to deploy them into the cutting position. It also has detectors for the positions of the tunnel's supporting arches (5).
